BY Toyin Johnson

Everyone of us has an “Artist” living inside of us. To create means to relate, the real meaning of art is to fit together and we do this everyday.
Favour Oluma a sixteen years old lady has shown the world how skilled Nigerians are with her amazing craftsmanship.
She is a student of the federal university of Technology, Minna. The young lady is into the craft of converting old car tyres into cute centre tables that can fit into modern homes.
According to her, millions of used tyres are being discarded daily around the globe, causing a lot of havoc to our drainage system and serious health issues by creating a haven for insects and pest to hide in. She said this led to her decision to turn those tyres into unique Ottoman which could serve as home décor and storage.
Favour said it is her side hustle as she sought for patronage on social media. She also derives joy from it.
This has shown that there are some Nigerians who are not only hardworking, but creative and constantly thinking of ways to make new things from old and discarded materials. Favour’s craft can be seen as an eco friendly way of recycling tyres.

COVID-19 PLAGUES THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY
By Ezeana Emmanuel
The Covid-19, otherwise known as the Corona virus earlier identified to have originated from China has begun its ascent from an exclusive viral infection to a global pandemic.
The viral infection which broke out December last year has had an effect on public health, businesses worldwide and even the travel sector among others. Of course the entertainment industry is not left out of the blowout; the ripple effect left from the pandemic has also made a subtle impact in the industry with the potential to grow exponentially.
These effects have implications for the people around the world who make a living producing and distributing movies, music, and more.
The country, China is the first of many countries into film and cinema productions to be affected by this development. All theatres across the country were closed down and major movie releases where halted or delayed. In no time too, Hollywood began to experience such complications and as time passes, the impact of the corona virus on the global film and entertainment industries will certainly grow.
Nollywood is yet to suffer any serious impacts in it’s film production and distribution but it’s decline is inevitable.
Ramifications from the pandemic includes a lowered attendance at film festivals and disruptions in film distribution. Delayed or canceled movies and the curtailing of on-location film shoots. Developments like this are sure to cause financial ramifications to studios, filmmakers, theatre owners and others alike. This could go on for months, years even, pending on the free Willy virus’ containment.
The following movies have been postponed from their initial release date pending the outbreak of the pandemic:
-Mulan (scheduled for March 27),
-The New Mutants (scheduled for April 3)
-Antlers (scheduled for April 17)
-Black Widow (originally set for May 1),
-The Personal History of David Copperfield (May 8)
-The Woman in the Window (May 15)
-No time to die
-Peter Rabbit 2: the runaway
– quiet place II (March 19)
-Fast and Furious 9 (May 22)
Also, hundreds of shows have delayed or suspended production, including Apple’s The Morning Show and Little America; Netflix shows including Russian Doll; the CW’s Riverdale; NBC shows including the Chicago dramas and The Kelly Clarkson Show; CBS shows including the NCIS dramas, The Amazing Race, and Survivor; and many more.
It is also notable that coachella, one of the largest annual music festivals in the US, announced on March 10 that the festival would be postponed due to concerns about Covid-19. It will now run from October 9-11 and October 16-18.
It is advisable to everyone to maintain a good personal hygiene. The Corona virus is spreading fast and the only way to slow it is by maintaining proper hygiene and constantly drinking enough water and washing of hands regularly.
We urge you all to maintain personal hygiene by following the laid down procedures given by the WHO so we can all get to see the comeback of these activities and enjoy it all together in the later end.
